Position:              Bookkeeper - Part-time up to 20 hours

Position Summary:  The Beneva Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Bookkeeper is responsible for conducting the business affairs of the church in an ethical and business-like manner.  The individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor in matters relating to employee records, all church insurance, and oversight of all church finances.  This position will serve as overseeing the day-to-day administration of church affairs.  Being a member of Beneva Christian Church is optional.

  • Works closely with BCC (Beneva Christian Church) Treasurer and Finance Team
  • Report to Sunbiz yearly with our annual report
  • Maintain the ALEX DOC Regional software weekly providing BCC information to the DOC Region
  • Maintain all employee records ensuring all state and federal laws and guidelines are satisfied
  • Maintain and update Servant Keeper each week
  • Oversee the accounting and accuracy of all financial functions and recordkeeping and deliver bank deposit
  • Manage and maintain the purchase of all goods and services and receipts for Beneva Christian Church
  • Manage the preparation of the payroll of Beneva Christian Church and Little Disciples Preschool employees
  • Manage/issue all insurance coverage for Beneva Christian Church (Property, Work Comp,)
  • Consult with the Beneva Christian Church Personnel Committee
  • Provide assistance and coordination of the church budget to the BCC Board and congregation as needed
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Sr. Pastor

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business administration is desired
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Analytical abilities to integrate and interpret data from various sources
  • Develop and implement business strategies and follow oral and written instructions
  • Effectively communicate and work with administration and church members regarding financial matters
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity in processing sensitive and confidential information
  • Must have working knowledge of state and federal laws related to required functions of this position
Salary:  Beginning salary of $20.00/hr.
